Andrew joined Fera Science Ltd (Fera) as CEO in 2015, where early work focussed upon the transition to public-private-partnership and setting and implementing its growth strategy.

Having transformed the business into upper decile financial and growth performance amongst its peers, he has recently led the transition to PE backing following the divestment of Capita’s shareholding to Bridgepoint Development Capital which completed in January of this year.

Andrew cares about the reducing the environmental cost of food production across the ‘whole food system’. He is a strong advocate of technologies to drive the circular economy, to promote biodiversity and for restoration of the natural environment.

As well as Executive Director on the Board of Fera and leading on its Science Committee, he leads on the Fera-Defra Joint Strategy Board.

He founded the UK Insect Bioconversion Forum in 2018 to support the Food and Drink Sector Council under the UK’s Industrial Strategy and has served as a Director of the Crop Health and Protection Agri-Tech Centre (CHAP Ltd).

Since 2022 he has served as Commissioner on the Trade and Agriculture Commission under DBT, advising on Free Trade Agreements with Australia, New Zealand and the CPTPP.

Andrew studied both of his degrees at the University of Manchester and is a Graduate of the London Business School Executive MBA programme.

Career History
Andrew joined Fera after a successful career at Intertek and an outstanding track record of delivering strong growth globally in the testing, inspection and certification services industry over 14 years, including establishing its Lifesciences Global Business. He devised and deployed innovative outsourcing contract models delivering new organic growth supplemented by highly successful strategic M&A.

Andrew relocated to UAE in 2012 to secure a strategic partnership with the Government of Abu Dhabi and to lead strategic growth for ‘One Intertek’ across the wider MENAP region. Before joining Intertek Andrew launched and led successful high technology University Campus ‘spin-off’ company (CSMA Ltd) expanding to new sites in London and Europe.

Board Service, Honours, Special Skills and Education
Since 2022 Andrew has served as a Commissioner on the Trade and Agriculture Commission of Department of Business and Trade. He has also served the York and North Yorkshire Local Authority on its Business Board and sits on the Steering Committee of Bioyorkshire.
